Worst thing about your city

I live in Portland, Oregon, and I love it. But there are things about it that really irritate me. The worst? Homeless people begging for change when they're not homeless and don't need money. Young people (20s) will hangout downtown, texting and playing games on their cell phones, and then when someone walks by, they will ask for change and make really sad faces.

    Not okay.

I'm in San Jose, CA and the worst thing to me is bad drivers. Especially when it rains, people just don't know how to drive. They drive either super slow or super fast, but never a good moderate speed.

Also, we have a lot of conservative Republicans (Republican State), and I find them to be very close minded and hell bent on keeping things the way it's been for years. And God forbid if you have an opposing opinion because they'll cut your friendship off in a heartbeat...over politics. SMH.

We have homeless in the downtown area but not as much as San Francisco (lots in SF). It's not as big of a problem for us because San Jose's downtown area isn't that large and the city is more suburban than urban.

I live in New York City. It does have it's pros, but the streets are polluted due to the high population of people who live there. The economy of the city is also not in a great condition so there's higher taxes, dirtier streets, and also have a lot of homeless people like your city. I would always see people of all ages sitting or standing on the side begging for money. Also, it's harder to drive here because the streets can be congested and narrow so a car accident would be more likely.

I live in Houston. I hate how weird our weather is. I dislike that we never get any snow.
I also dislike how spread out and big Houston is.

The worse thing about my city is that it is very transient. People come and people go all the time. MOst people that come here I have found are hiding from something, so it feels like you can't believe or trust anyone. They can be here today and gone tomorrow. Because of this it makes it a little more expensive to live here. For example you have to pay a deposit for everything, even to get your lights turned on. If you want to rent a apartment, you have to pay 1st, last and security. So basically if the the rent is $900 you have to pay $2700 to move in. So, there are a lot of up front fees.

I'm also a New York City resident and the worst thing besides congestion is the inflated prices of everything. You can't really watch a movie without spending almost $30 (price of ticket, popcorn etc) and there is hardly any parking and you will keep paying high parking fees. Luckily if you leave Manhattan, some of the boroughs are a bit cheaper but not by much. I still do enjoy Chinatown because you can still get a complete meal for $5 if you know where to look.

The worst thing about my city right now is the high unemployment rate and the fact that there are no jobs available. People are losing their homes and there are a lot more homeless people....It is sad to watch, the city I was born and raised in start to crumble.

There are a lot of great things about Salt Lake City. There is relatively low unemployment, crime is generally on the lower side, it is relatively liberal (for Utah, at least). All that being said, the worst thing about Salt Lake City is the inversions during the winter. Because it is in a valley surrounded by mountains, smog can accumulate and get stuck leaving the whole city in a smog cloud for weeks at a time. Gross!

I'm from Toronto Canada, but hope it's okay to post in this thread! For me, it's transit in the city -- our subway system is really underfunded, and it is not extensive enough for a city of 3 million people.

I live in New York City, and I would have to say the worst part about it is the air pollution and the traffic. Whenever I go out of state to PA or CT and breathe the fresh air it is so invigorating, and sometimes it makes me light-headed from all that air. Also the nice thing about leaving NYC is the traffic. Going out into the country its just open fields with nobody around it, its nice sometimes to get away. I feel that living in NYC it is hard to get away from people.

Oh, oh, oh! I bet I can win this! ;)

I live in Topeka, KS - worst part?? Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church!! It makes me sad that so many people associate my city with him and his family - even people outside of the US. Topeka isn't some spectacular place, but it's a decent city with affordable living and decent jobs and I enjoy it. But he totally ruins it.

The worst thing about my city, is there's absolutely nothing to do here. It gets way too cold here in the winter as well. Around the beginning of the year, it can get down to the single digits. In the summer it gets excessively hot, and humid.

Oh wow where to start, The worst things about a central ohio town a little south of Columbus, well we could start with the welfare scammers, or the robberies hmm no lets go with the drug dealers, this town has a huge heroin, RX pill, and meth problem, and everyone who gets locked up in this horribly corrupt so called judicial system just ends up slipping right through the cracks and back into the hands of society. There seems to be no 3 strike rule here people just get worse. I have very little hope for this town or any surrounding towns around here really very kind of sad when you think about it. There needs to be some new laws and crack down harder on these dealers and criminals.

    Kind Regards,

Tampa...Every sign in the store is written in Spanish first with a small English caption underneath. It makes me so damn mad.

I live in Orlando and I would say the worst thing about my city is the traffic on Interstate 4! By 3 in the afternoon it is already bumper to bumper with traffic.
  18. I'm in Washington D.C., and the worst thing I have to say about me city is the traffic. You can basically never go anywhere on the highway without being slowed down by some sort of accident. And since I mentioned traffic, the accidents here occur every 15 minutes or so. You hear sirens every hour. It's horrible.

I live about 45 minutes north of Milwaukee in a small town. The worst thing about my city is the school system. It is a smaller public school but it doesn't really help our kids very well. The teachers don't seem to care like they used to. The curriculum is where it should be. My son is now in college and taking classes that should have been offered in his high school as other in his school took some of these classes in high school. The public schools in my city don't prepare the kids for college. They don't test the kids like they did when I was young. I really wish that there was a better school system here in my town for these kids.
