I'm blessed to live in San Jose, California. Once a small farming city, it experienced rapid growth in the 1950s, and maintains global city status in terms of population, land area, industrial development, and technology concentration. It's the largest city in the Bay Area, third largest city in California, and with a population of 1,023,000, the 10th largest city in the U.S. It offers a wonderful quality of life, and wide variety of exciting cultural, recreational, educational and entertainment opportunities. Due to being known as the capital of Silicon Valley, San Jose, is home to more than 6,600 technology companies that employ more than 254,000 people. The region has unrivaled access to venture funding, highly skilled workers and entrepreneurs, world-class research institutions, supportive government policies, and cutting-edge technology incubators like San Jose's Environmental Business Cluster and the San Jose BioCenter. As a result, it's no surprise that San Jose was voted best U.S City for Clean Technology by Business Week. In addition to San Jose's wonderful history and technology presence, it boasts an average of more than 300 sunny days per year. During the summer, temperatures are warm and tend to range between 70-90 degrees Fahrenheit. During the winter it's cooler with a climate around 50 degrees Fahrenheit. It also receives an annual average precipitation of 15.08 inches--the wettest month of the year in January--with an average rainfall of 3.03 Inches. So should you decide to visit to see for yourself, like many others you'll fall in love and come to understand what all the hype is about. After all, our State song, "I Love You California", is just that for a reason. Overall, the reasons to live here are many: San Jose has the nation's best public safety record of any metropolitan area, offers great ethnic diversity, a beautiful climate, and a rich history.
San Jose, California, is absolutely awesome! Founded in November 29, 1777 as "El Pueblo de San Jose de Guadalupe", San José was California's first civilian settlement. When California gained statehood in 1850, San Jose served as its first capital. Today, San José is the third largest city in California (Los Angeles is first and San Diego is second). San Jose offers a world-renowned quality of life, including exciting cultural, recreational, educational and technical opportunities. Most of all, San Jose is very diverse ethnically, with a beautiful climate, and world-renowned landmarks including the Children’s Discovery Museum, the Mexican Heritage Plaza, HP Pavilion at San Jose, Winchester Mystery House and the Tech Museum of Innovation.
