Ok, I'm not bashing this fine state or its people. But I've never been to North Dakota before in my life. So what are some reasons someone would want to live here?

Hello Vu, surprisingly I have spent a lot of time in North Dakota (including a full semester of study at the university of Mary in Bismarck). For a French guy, it's odd! People there are very nice, no crime, good summer weather. It's a peaceful life, good public schools, with low unemployment and everything is CHEAP! You can get a really nice house for about $150K there. A guy who lived there his whole life told me once: When kids become teenagers, all they want is to leave ND, but once they become adults and get kids, all they want to to is go back there. You get attached to it somehow.

    cheers

$150k? Omg, I think I'm relocating. Just kidding, I love CA too much. But I am fed up with housing prices here in the Bay Area. Ugh.

Wow, thanks for sharing Antony. I think I'm going to have to put a visit to North Dakota on my life list of things to do. Being a native Californian, it's hard to imagine living where things are so much cheaper and the pace of life is slower. Perhaps when I'm a little older and ready to retire, I'll have a different perspective.

Nice people, open space, no traffic to deal with, low housing prices, low crime, plus they have the lowest unemployment rates in all of the U.S. at 3.7%. The only downside I see is that the weather there is not that great, they have very cold and harsh winter months.

When you step out of your car in town, people greet you like family. If you are in the ditch during a snow storm, someone comes to your rescue most often times for a thank you and that is all. You can go there and feel welcome no matter where you have come from too. They know how to take care of each other like humans should do all over the world. North Dakota is a place everyone should go see once in their life. Be prepared, you might not want to leave.

I have never lived in North Dakota, but I enjoy vacationing there very much, and, therefore, I think North Dakota would be a wonderful place in which to live. I prefer an educational vacation experience, so North Dakota is one of my favorite lesser-known haunts. If you enjoy exploring different cultures and heritages, you can do so in North Dakota through one of their many car, bus, and canoe tours. My favorite tours feature American Indian culture, paleontology, and, being a wine enthusiast, a well-known tour providing instruction on how to harvest cold-weather grapes. All of these tours are plentiful in North Dakota and provide real hands-on learning opportunities! "Tour where you live" I always say.
