Today, before I could stop her, one of my dogs found some dog poo and thought it smelled like Calvin Klein's Eternity. Not only did she rub her neck and her back into it as much as possible but I saw she even ate some. I would have been appalled if it were the first time but she's done this at least five other times in her two year life. A few people at the park sympathized and understood my pain, however, no one had an answer why some dogs are so attracted to another dog's poo and want to wear it or eat it. Does anyone have an answer or idea to this disgusting behavior?
feed your dogs angela! and discipline them HARD. They have no business eating poop esp other's poop! I would start booty spanking them if I were u and say "Bad doggy" 10 times.
Lmao! I've tried to discipline her but she sneaks off at the park and then when she returns to me, I see the poo on her neck and back. Sad thing is, she looks really happy wearing it.
That's odd. I don't think I've ever seen a dog do that. I wonder what causes that type of behavior. Oh well, dogs are sometimes weird animals. (like peopke, hehe.)
Its to cover their scent up. Dogs in the wild (or rather, dog's wild ancestors) would roll in strongly smelling things to mask their scent so they couldn't be tracked, I think. This link is interesting: http://www.mmilani.com/dog-eats-feces.html They eat dog poop to hide it (like if they went in the house, which they know is bad) or if they are lacking certain things in their diet. A lot of dogs also eat other animal's poop (mine like duck poop and cat poop ) because they see it as food.
My dog has done that too. We were up north camping and she rolled around in human poo. So Gross! She also eats her own. I have no idea why she does it. Maybe to "mark her territory?" I don't know, but it is really gross.
My two dogs eat their poo too. I am always yelling at them to stop eating it. Over the winter, one of my dogs came in the house somewhat late with a frozen log in her mouth. It totally grossed me out. She thought that she would just bring it in and lay on her pillow and have a midnight snack. Boy, was I angry and grossed out. She hasn't brought another one in since.
