I decided to add this post even though there is a similar foodie topic but I thought it would be fun to identify a favorite food or foods in your favorite city.

    1) Deep dish Pizza: Many try but few succeed. As NYC claims that they have the best pizza, which is a super thin, "foldable" slice. Chicago is definitely home to world's best deep dish. It is one of those dishes that you can just plan on skipping a couple of meals for, it's worth it.....

Best Place to Get it: There are several but here are a couple to wet your whistle.
Edwardos: many locations, known for a beautiful and sumptuous tomato sauce, powered by delectable cheeses baked loving into a wonderful homemade bread crust.

Good Thing about Edwardos: BYOB, hey, no beer needed. Go with a wine, instead and of course coffees, sodas and water are available.

Giodanos: The name says it all. A staple in Chicago. Plain ole goodness.
    Good Thing: Classic Chicago-style pizza.

    Stay Tuned.....More to come :)

Bay Area, California has a plethora of diverse restaurants but I would say Sushi is our food mascot. There are hundreds to choose from, and some literally next to each other. They either have a bar atmosphere, playing house music and offering saki bombs, or a formal environment typical of nice western restaurants.

Best Place to Get it: You can find a great sushi bar/restaurant in every major city.
Sushi O Sushi: located on El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, is a small but modern restaurant (you won't find rice paper walls or tatami mats here), and offers a variety of well-known rolls and house specials. Or, if you can't decide on a roll, you can opt out and let the chef create a custom surprise for you. The average cost of a plate of 8 rolls is approximately $12. The rolls are big and meaty so you feel like you're getting your money's worth. S-O-S is a great place for lunch but if you're considering dinner, try arriving early evening because it gets full quickly. The Lion King roll is to die for!

Blowfish: located in Santana Row, San Jose, a modern and lively sushi restaurant (house club environment), is in the upscale Santana Row shopping/housing plaza. The cost is around $13 per plate of rolls. It gets higher for the bowl dishes. The sashimi bowl is amazing. Besides it being a good portion of fish, it's also decorated very nicely. After all, in a place like this, presentation is everything.

I am a huge Sushi fan! I'm not surprised that the Bay area has incredible sushi. Both restaurant spots sound fun and worthy of your recommendation. Let me see, you mentioned saki bombs, house music and sushi all in one post. That sounds like my kind of party. There is also a great sushi spot on the north side of Chicago called Matsuya (ok, I think I just butchered the name, but close). I have lots of good memories of rolls and saki there :).

Silent, let me know when you are visiting the Windy City. We would have a blast. If you like pizza, you will love Chicago. I have so many eateries (and especially pizzerias) that I could list here. Umm, I want some now, too. Here in Madison, there is a Pizzaria Uno restaurant (this franchise originated in Chicago). It's deep dish but it's not the same. I may need to do a thin Spinach pizza if this craving does not go away.

There is a restaurant on the main drag in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, that has the most delicious Bison pot roast you could ever imagine. My mouth is watering right now, just thinking about it. I'm not exactly sure Jackson Hole is number one on the top of my favorite cities list, but it is right there close to the top. If I'm in the vicinity, I will go out of my way to get to that pot roast!

The absolute best hibachi restaurant is Kyoto in Crystal Lake, IL. I have been to countless hibachi restaurants. I have been to everything from mom and pop type of places and chains like Benihana, but Kyoto is by far the best. I think the two items in particular that stand out are the spicy garlic shrimp which has this breadcrumb garlic spice paste on top and is steam grilled with vodka. Also the fried rice is delicious.

pstovall-- If I am in Wyoming then I want to go eat at my favorite Wyoming based chain and that is Taco John's. We have a few scattered around Illinois, but Taco John's and Del Taco are my all time favorite taco places. I'd even rather have that then a nice mexican place.

I m going to go with a good old fashion Chicago Hot Dog in Chicago. I haven't been able to find a duplicate anywhere. They have that special relish, oh and how they mix the french fries in it.... oh now I am going to have to have one.... and Chicago is so many many miles away.....

I would like to mention another of my very favorite restaurants, City Lights of China in Washington, D.C. I guess I didn't mention it earlier because I wanted to remain true to the thread because D.C., although I love visiting there, is not my very favorite city of all time, just ONE of my favorites. But City Lights of China could possibly be my favorite restaurant. One year on our way to Boston, taking our daughter back to college, we went out of our way just to eat at City Lights. And the dish I love there is a tomato eggplant casserole. Absolutely delicious! This thread is truly making me want to do some traveling!

There's nothing like Buffalo Wings from Buffalo and a lesser know Beef on Kummelwick sandwich...

The Kummelwick or Kimmelwick roll is a Kaiser roll with Pretzel Salt and Caraway Seeds on top ... inside is filled with hand sliced roast beef and often seasoned with Horseradish.... the sandwich was developed in the taverns near the heavy industries in Buffalo for steel, paper and factory workers who often only had a brief lunch break...

the abundant salt replenished the sodium lost through sweat on the lines, the caraway seasoned the beef and the beef filled the workers hardy apetite... the bartenders kept a large roast in a warmer behind the bar and sliced off the sandwiches in what would be considered one of the earliest "fast foods"... most often the sandwich was washed down with a cold beer or two or three in a matter of minutes as the workers cycled through on their breaks... today the sandwich survives as a local favorite and an homage to the industrial past of the Rust Belt worker... So good...

When we go to Murrells Inlet, Sc we always have to eat at Drunken Jack's Restaurant & Lounge. It is awesome, my whole family loves it! And when we go to Panama City Beach, FL we always have to eat at Pineapple Willy's. Ocean front, and the best food ever!

And of course, right here in the great state of Tennessee you must eat at " The Old Mill " in Pigeon Forge, TN. Nice country food, and it is the best dinner you will have and you will walk out all nice and full.

I have a couple of favorite cities. One of my favorite cities is Boston. I love Boston. They have so much history that is so amazing. My son wanted to go to Boston this past summer because of their well known clam chowder. We had mentioned to him many years ago that Boston has the best clam chowder than any other city. We took him to Boston this past summer so that he could try their clam chowder. Boston still has the best clam chowder around. We love their clam chowder. We were there for a whole week and had clam chowder every day that we were there. We also love their seafood. Boston has the best seafood around and at a very reasonable price compared to Milwaukee. If you are every in Boston, I would highly recommend trying their clam chowder and their seafood. You will love it.

Whenever I go and visit New York (my favorite place), I always stop by Lansky's deli located on Columbus avenue. The prepared mozzarella product pastrami is to die for and very reasonably priced! I go there with my father's side of the family all the time and I highly recommend it if any of you ever pass by it:).

I'm in New York and for me it's sort of a tie between pizza and hamburger and fries. Yeah, I know very simplistic foods. But hey, sometimes the simple stuff is best. And even when they're made badly, they still taste good

In the Washington DC there is the famous "Ben's Chile Bowl" a lot of people like this restaurant. It has even been visited by Mr. Obama.

There are so many good restaurants here it's really hard to pick one. I like to visit the China Town area to get good food.

My favourite type of food is actually not where I live, so I think it is rather interesting!!! I LOVE LAKSA. It is amazing. It's a type of Malaysian noodle where they use coconut milk to brew this spicy soup filled with ingredients like seafood and chicken. Here in Australia, our only national iconic food would be BBQ, but we also have a lot of multicultural foods.

And I always go to Malaysian places if there is one nearby, cause the taste is just so epic. :) :) :)
