I know everyone has gripes about the government as a whole, but are there anything in particular that you dislike or despise ( in my case ) about your city/states government and/or elected officials? I live in KY, and just about every system is screwed up beyond belief and repair. The school systems are atrocious, in fact, the best thing I can think of about the schools is that they are all actively changing their menus in order to combat childhood obesity, though I tend to think it's more important that they have the ability to spell childhood obesity. The elected officials are, for the most part....mentally challenged. The roads suck, causing congested, life-altering traffic standstills... I could on....but I'll stop now
I think this song about sum's up what I think of most politician's in general. I know there are some good people out there though fighting for good and not greed but not many. Kind Regard's CharlieDeff
Quite frankly, I believe that very few people actually do. Most cannot name them off the top of their heads. People are just not involved as they should be. Presidential elections on the other hand, completely different and have much more involvement.
Where I live, I think the politicians are somewhat corrupt and haven't got the first clue of what they are doing.
It seems to be a rising notion in the States nowadays. Nobody trusts their Elected representatives anymore, and it seems for good reason. There are a few people who claim that we have the power to vote these guys out, but I think the reason why voting has lost so much popularity is due to the fact that the next guy we vote in, does pretty much the same thing as the one we just voted out.
Well I live in New Jersey right now, and well since he hit the national spot light more then once in the past months I imagine many have an opinion on him. I don't really follow local politics until they hit a national level, but I have seen a few good things I like from him, and more then a few things to make me shake my head and be like oh that's right he is a politician.
To be quite honest the politicians here in Chicago still suck. They have been corrupt for years (mostly on the state level but city as well). Now there are guys in office who try to do stuff then people cry about it when they don't cry about why taxes are so high, and how you would be in fool or insanely rich to park downtown (The parking meters take credit cards. That's a big hint how high those are) but the roads still suck and they are still closing schools in poor neighborhoods left and right. Yes the politicians are still terrible here.
I am not actually in USA but i am always amazed to learn that politics and governance in a great country like USA is something already less desirable. Here in my country, whenever we are expressing disgust there is that tendency to compare our situation to that of USA where we assumed that everything is alright and that economic development is really enjoyed by all people regardless of economic standing. Well, I am living in a good country but also ravaged by bad economic managers and local politicians who still have to learn the value of self-sacrifice for the greater good of the majority.
I can tell you that I was never more glad than when here in California we got rid of Schwarzenegger. What a terrible governor! I can't believe he got elected for two terms!
Well, in a democracy type of government, people who are not really qualified and who never have what it takes to be a good and visionary leader can be elected into office. Here in my country, election is always a popularity contest and this embolden many popular actors and actresses to try their luck in politics and many of them succeeded. We even elected an actor politician into the highest position of the land and whose presidency was abruptly aborted via a questionable technique. When people choose to elect a person whom we believe are inept for people, we can only sigh in disbelief.
