TV commercials too loud?

Anyone notice that whenever a TV show cuts to a commercial, the volume is much louder? Is it me or have the decibels gotten more intense over the last several years? I feel like I'm going deaf! I literally have to keep adjusting the remote control to keep from going crazy.

What can we do about this? I wish someone would pass a law. If only these TV stations would do what's good for their viewers instead of thinking about their wallets all the time.

I haven't noticed any of that in my area. The only time I've seen something like that is with locally produced commercials that probably just arent professional enough to be able to get all the equalization right.

Other than that I just find that gets louder during music parts of episodes and then I have to turn it down, only to have to turn it back up when they start talking again.

What kind of law do you think would get this to stop? Like a law on the decibel level the tv is allowed to be at?

I watch a lot of sports so maybe the thinking is that the louder commercials will cut through the noise in a room full of people rooting on their teams. But then again, I just watched The Office on TBS tonight and when it cut to commercial, the volume change was quite noticeable.

I think the FCC could go a long way towards making this into a law at the federal level. Either a limit on the total decibel level and/or a limit on volume level of shows vs commercials.

I'm guessing this is supposed to catch your attention? I'm not really sure as to why they do this as I usually get annoyed and throw the remote at the television. This usually breaks it and I no longer watch the commercial. Is this really what the advertisers want us to be doing? Maybe its a subliminal message for buying new televisions!
