Personally I think this is great news for the African American community. I grew up watching BET (Black Entertainment Television) religiously and was fed a heavy diet of rap, r&b videos, etc. I didn't realize until I got much older that if you look up to that stuff as your role models, then it can have a negative impact on your self esteem and outlook on life. And this is coming from a diehard music fan growing up during the 1990's.

I remember President Bill Clinton awhile back presented some award to Robert Johnson (founder of BET). I remember thinking at the time of the irony. RJ was probably responsible for keeping his "people" down more than anything by profiting from negative stereotypes of black folks.

Anyways, these are my personal thoughts. Would love to hear what you guys think.

I think this is great news. Oprah's channel is struggling, but I'm sure Magic has a different vision for his channel. Plus variety is the spice of life. Magic has turned into quite the business mogul. I cried when he had to leave the LA Lakers. I was such a huge fan.
