For a few years I lived near New Orleans and enjoyed visiting. It's been around 15 years now since I last had a chance to visit the Big Easy. I would love to go back and see if it has changed, particularly in light of Hurricane Katrina. I am wondering in particular if the Vieux Carre was affected by Katrina. If it was, what has been done to repair the damage?
My husband and I had a short layover a couple of years ago. I had never been before, so I can't personally speak to the changes, but he noticed quite a few in some parts of the city. We went to some parts of the French Quarter, and it did not seem to have been affected. Beautiful city; I was only there a few hours, but fell quite heavily in love with it.
