Columbus,GA is home of the Port Columbus Civil War Naval Museum. The museum is very large and consists of the largest Confederate flag display in the US. The museum also contains real ships that took place in naval battles during the Civil War!
What is the significance of the Confederate flag from an objective point of view? What exactly does it represent to Southerners today? My perception of the flag screams of a time in American History when people were ignorant and were willing to risk their lives to support the institution of slavery. A time when America claimed freedom for all man, yet considered black people or pretty much anyone with brown skin only 3/5th of a man. Maybe there's some positive significance to the flag that I'm missing, could anyone share with me what that would be?
