Gov. Brown is coming out swinging, and I don't blame him. California has been hurting for a long time, with members of legislature unable to make hard decisions that were in the long-term interest of the state. Because of this, he's forced to find $15.4 billion in cuts, on top of the $12 billion already slashed from the state budget.

We're starting to see changes in lieu of finding the $15.4 billion. For one, the shift of jailing and supervising 30,000 nonviolent and nonsexual adult offenders to local municipalities. Boy that's going to be a handful for everyone. Second, there may be an upcoming increase in UC undergraduate tuition to $20-$25k annually. I'm still gasping from that sucker punch. I may be looking outside the state when it comes time to transfer. :(
