How can sports and energy drinks help you perform better than good old fashioned H2O? Is it the electrolytes? How do they make this stuff?
Water is the best for consumption. Water is a common chemical substance that is essential to all known forms of life. Energy drinks are soft drinks advertised as being specifically designed to provide energy. Energy drinks may cause seizures in those who suffer from certain forms of epilepsy due to the "crash" following the energy high that occurs after consumption.
Good question and good response. Basically, from what I understand, sports drinks are full of electrolytes(salt) to help you keep liquids where they need to be when you are working out, in your body.
I think there is no better drink than Water. Those so-called "Energy Drinks" or "Sport Drinks" are just marketing products with no noticeable effects on performance. In fact, I think they can do more harm than good.
Sports drinks are not healthier to drink than water during everyday life. Sports drinks have the needed electrolytes etc. to provide fuel and power to the athletes during a sport or physical activity. Water basically flushes out the body and is great for everything.
You need electrolytes after an intense workout, because you lose a lot of minerals with sweat. But energy drinks... they are good, sure, but using them every day will not only diminish their effect over time, but is also dangerous to your heart. I know, I used to drink a LOT of red bull before every weight lifting session, but I had to stop, because my heart sometimes spontaneously started beating too fast, even while I was reading or surfing the net. This scared me, so I quit red bull and never looked back. Stay safe..
