In light of what happened to Japan, California State lawmakers are calling on the utilities to conduct seismic studies of risks posed by offshore faults. We all know California is one of the most seismically active areas in the world so it makes perfect sense to revisit the safety of its nuclear plants at Diablo Canyon and San Onofre. So what's taking the tests so long? Why have the utilities been allowed to drag their feet? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/21/california-nuclear-safety_n_838527.html We need to enforce safety testing if Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG & E) want to renew their license to operate these reactors.
