Was it fair for the city of San Francisco to charge Zynga $45,000 to clean up the "vandalism" done to sidewalks?

    http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20101112-714901.html

The article states, "Total cleanup costs to the city were limited to $2,000", so is the $43,000 penalty too firm or a small slap on the wrist?

(ps. I stopped playing Mafia Wars a month ago and haven't gone back since, I feel like I'm not missing anything!)

Fabulous to hear that you stopped playing! I did too and haven't looked back since.

I believe the penalty was for the Ad Agency and not for Zynga. It was stated that Zynga was unaware of the Agency's guerrilla campaign to glue Mafia Wars fake currency ($25,000 bills) onto sidewalks and walls in 70 different locations in San Francisco. I find it hard to believe that an Ad Agency would spend that much money and effort on a campaign without the approval and knowledge of their client. Really?

Zynga should be made to pay a penalty as well. It's speculated Zynga rakes in a cool $240m a year so what's a drop of $43k to them? That's not a slap on the wrist, it's more like a mosquito bite.
